If there are no TRV valves, or there is under floor heating again Honeywell Home would advise engaging a recognised installer. If there are existing TRV valves, then it is a simple process of unscrewing and fitting the ‘radiator zone kits’. This has been designed so that customers who have evohome, and want to grow their Smart Zoning over time can.

To find out more about how the system is installed, download our full Installation Guide, which comes in the pack as well.

How does Amazon Alexa & Echo work with evohome Wi-Fi & Single Zone Thermostats?

Honeywell have built a set of ‘skills’ which can be picked from the Amazon Alexa skills list. Simply go to your Skills list inside Amazon Alexa App, go to Smart Home category, and add the Honeywell Skills. This will ask you to link your Honeywell Account to Alexa. Follow the steps on screen. Alexa will ask you to go to your Smart Home section (from main drop down menu), and ‘discover devices’. All your Honeywell zones will be discovered. In addition you will see the following ‘modes’ also listed - ‘Away mode’ ‘Economy mode’ and ‘custom mode.’

What can I say to Amazon Alexa?

You can issue commands such as:

“Alexa, make my bathroom 21 degrees”

“Alexa, switch on hot water”  (if you have stored hot water option)

“Alexa, switch on economy mode”

For zones and hot water making, these changes will set them until the next scheduled change point. For instance, if you turn on your hot water at 5pm and it was due to come on at 6pm and go off at 10pm, it will be on from 5pm to 10pm. For ‘mode’ commands (ie Alexa switch on away mode) these are permanent until you override and change.

What can I not do with Amazon Alexa?

Currently you cannot set a time schedule to the commands. Zone commands to evohome Wi-Fi and Single Zone Thermostat will operate until the next schedule. For example, you cannot say “Alexa make my Bathroom 21 degrees for 1 hour”

Is the Amazon Alexa/Echo compatible with the Honeywell Total Connect Comfort products?

Amazon are utilizing Honeywell Home’s Total Connect Comfort API and allows the Alexa/Echo system to interract with our TCC thermostats (Single Zone Thermostat and Evohome).

Amazon Alexa/Echo will work with our TCC products(controlling just the heat and not the hot water at the moment).
